Every month, we'll have a post where new characters and old characters can plan out backstories with one another. This should hopefully get characters something to work with when coming up with their alternate universes and get some prebuilt CR for those who are looking for it! This is NOT a requirement, you could be an unattached person if you'd like! However, for those who do want it, this is the place for you!

AU idea(s):

A good bean with a stable and fulfilling childhood. Born as "Lacia" to Sun Sign parents, but granted the freedom to choose her own Family, she eventually joined the Unholy Disorder in her early teens under the name "Oriole". Popular in school, honors student, student council nominee... everyone thought she was gonna go far. This year, though...

This year, she's been looking kiiinda sleep-deprived. And by kinda, I mean: if she wasn't so dedicated to being a friendly and upbeat person, she'd be channeling some real cold dead zombie energy. Her grades are... they're still okay. She's book smart. But they're just okay, when they could be so much more. And for some reason, she didn't show up to her college entrance exams?

Could it be that...

Well, it's gotta be her rebel phase. Unknown to most, she recently acquired a tattoo -- of none other than "LOVESHINE", a mysterious REAL LIFE MAGICAL GIRL that appeared out of nowhere and started fighting petty crime using... DDR music?! It's been fun and games and glitter until her latest VERY PUBLIC clash with "Death by a Thousand Cuts", a novice serial killer that dared to attack her girlfriend. The date of said clash? You guessed it: the day of Ori's college admissions.

But there's no way that's more than coincidence.

Ori was always so diligent about her studies. Always so intent on working hard. On learning to the best of her ability. On knowing how to best help others.

Rebel phase or not, there's no way she'd risk throwing away her future just to go fangirl over some silly shoujo battle. Right?

- yeah Ori's LOVESHINE
- why? good question
- is Ori recognizable as LOVESHINE or vice versa? hell nah that shit's sooo Blessing carried
- the very public clash between Love and Death made the news around day ~190 under the headline "LOVE TRIUMPHS OVER DEATH?". it was written in the most extra and cringe way possible and detailed how, although Death managed to escape, LOVESHINE also managed to rescue her girlfriend and therefore took the W
- LOVESHINE herself is also very cringe. extremely saccharine. has lines like "Remember, LOVESHINE loves you~!" and "Nothing a little love can't fix~!"
- before the Love vs Death clash, LOVESHINE would sabotage random criminal activities with [some stat-nerfing DDR music Blessing, details pending approval] and generally be peak levels of annoying to poor underground folk presumably just wanting to feed themselves
- there was no rhyme or reason to when she'd show up. vibes-based spawns only. complete 180 from Oriole Unholy Disorder's personality

what IS Ori like anyway

- curious and passionate, likes thriving and seeing others thrive
- kind of a tomboy
- kind of (very) naive, believes in giving everyone a chance
- wants to be a healer of some sort; was expected to pick Sun Sign, Acidia or Cirrus. Unholy was a bit of a swerve
- grew up without Blessings. wasn't fussed about it and enjoyed working hard the normie way. doesn't advertise her current ones (acquired roughly around when LOVESHINE first appeared) so most people think she's still Blessing-less. she wouldn't lie about having them if asked but she might omit certain things
- tentative Blessings are: illusions, DDR music stat nerf to opponents/possible buff to allies, glitter healing

real life magical girl but it's fake

- during the Love vs Death clash it was hard to see what actually happened due to Death blowing up a bunch of terrain via Blessings/gadgets, but LOVESHINE did emerge from the wreckage afterward carrying an unidentified teenage girl on her back. Death was nowhere to be seen. LOVESHINE declared "she'll be juuust fine / nothing a little love can't fix! / but for now, we're gonna catch some hard-earned alone time, if ya catch my drift~♡" before flying off
- LOVESHINE's flight, enhanced speed and enhanced strength are carried by someone else's Blessing lol
- she presents as a crowd control specialist as opposed to an attacker and only "uses" the above skills to dodge or gain a vantage for her music blast
- LOVESHINE seems to be immune to physical damage. she's not and will flag like a normal person, just without visible physical wounds
- sometimes LOVESHINE's opponents conveniently collapse from """exhaustion""" when Ori happens to be running out of juice. Ori thinks it's just the stat nerfs doing work. it's not :)

the real real tea

- and cosplaying as LOVESHINE's """girlfriend""" because why not
- so about LOVESHINE's flight/enhanced speed/enhanced strength
- listen. it's so easy to dye your hair and blend into a crowd when there's a real life magical girl stealing everyone's attention
- but why?? i told you, why not
- LOVESHINE's "damage immunity" comes from either Ori's own illusion Blessing (if approved) or some random nameless audience lackey's assist
- Felt involuntarily ghosts Ori when she boards the Dream Drift, then voluntarily once she arrives back on shore; for late Dream Drift boarders, LOVESHINE did still appear occasionally but would have been noticeably weaker/slower post-ghost

maybe important tea aka the cops are useless (but it's not their fault)

- sooo several people in Ori's grade unexpectedly dropped out this year! crazy that they all "moved away" at similar times. looks like some people really didn't want to go to college.
- ah, but one person didn't move away. he died. some people say he got caught in a hit and run, others say he was murdered by Death by a Thousand Cuts. the data's inconclusive, but Ori did seem to be at his funeral. she was one of the few people there.
- speaking of Death, the cops are notably NOT going after him despite rumors (and the occasional footage) of him KIDNAPPING and TORTURING people. if asked, they'd likely tell you that another department is on the case, as that's what they would have been told themselves
- Death has a Blessing that can turn his body parts to scribbles, he keeps it active on his face in public
- Ori doesn't talk about the guy that died without outside prompting. as with the Blessings, she doesn't actively hide the association and has zero shame about it (quite the opposite actually), but you'd have to be close to her to know that they were good friends
- despite the loss of her friend and her recent failing grades, Ori still seems to genuinely like her life and has never displayed any desire to be someone else
- "that makes no sense" ikr? wack

- the past year involved a LOT of cramming. she tends to not cram at home (because she's been lying to her parents about skipping school) (they also suspect nothing because of certain external influences) so if your character would hang around/own a cram-friendly space they could have met there

so there's roughly like a year in age difference between them i think? so they probably could have shared an elective! or disorder being big on hospitality we could go with some new (teen) disorder functions as an excuse there.

if she'd cram at a cafe there's always frost's cafe as an excuse! or a (school) library anywhere in between

he would have definitely noticed the tiredness at some point if they ran into each other at cram sessions may have tried to take a guess at a favorite drink/snack and try to bring it to her on occasion.

these are just my initial noodling thoughts i am happy for anything!!!

Hmm I might be able to do some connection to Death with Sam's background if you were interested since he sounds like someone Sam's Family would look into esp if cops aren't doing anything about it. But because of LOVESHINE, especially, they would just observe mostly. It would be just background flavor mostly, but if LOVESHINE had ever needed some help even if just something dumb like help moving without being noticed (alibi) or like a tip off about something or a certain item that would help her take out the criminals easier but is kinda expensive for someone like her to buy or weird for a teenage girl to be buying or some such, they'd def help her. They're big vigilante justice lovers esp one like her.

Otherwise maybe her dad is CEO of one of the most prominent companies of Sam's Family's conglomerate ? They might not know each other except by like name/mention, but Sam would have at least met her dad officially while on shore leave because he took over as chairman while back there. The only thing that comes with this is obligatory big brother mode but I feel like he's gonna do it anyway to her since that's how he is.

Anyway, I'm not sure if any of these are workable or intriguing ideas you could build on for something fun for you, so if not I'd be more than happy to just roll with boat-only CR too!

And randomly if she likes DDR itself let's def get a DDR machine in unholy because Sam really likes rhythm games so they should compete ...!

AU: THIS DUDE IS HONESTLY A BIT OF A MYSTERY EVEN IN ESTORIA BUT A MUCH MORE MUNDANE AND STUPID ONE THAN IN CANON. No matter where he walks into, he gives off a vibe like he works there and can help you. This fools actual businesses as well as customers so this dude has a ridiculous number of part time jobs entirely by accident. His AU CR is that he is a semi-forgettable background character in basically everyone else’s AU.

He works all of the overtime.

Interested in the following CR:
- For real, let him be someone you recognize as having been around consistently in your life for some time pre-boat, but in a relatively background way.
- Sirens, you could have thought he was a manager at your agency/agencies, just a manager for talent other than you. Or maybe you didn't think he was a manager but that he worked in like, accounting or standards&practices or something. Maybe he's brought your drinks or fetched you a car or helped you with paperwork or something.
- He mostly gets mistaken for some kind of middle management, so he can have been, like...a floor manager at your local grocery, some kind of helpful dude who got called over if you had an issue at some other type of small business or office somewhere, etc.
- I am also down for a few people to have actual history with him (went to school with him/actually roomed with him for a while and saw how he was in everyday life/good friend/high school ex/whatever), but my stipulation here is that these should all be hilariously inconsistent somehow.
- Why is his history so scrambled? How is he holding all these jobs? How the hell does he do his taxes like this? Is it Blessing-related? I have not figured this out entirely yet and the world may never know.

Any other notes: Since this is a really, really new canon and he obviously has insane spoilers centered around him as the title character, you can tap me if you need me to avoid those!

AU idea(s): I played Lophi during the Shore Leave event, but I'm bringing him onto the ship proper this time! His previous plotting post is here for reference, but I wanted to put up a new post if anyone wanted to adjust any previous CR or pick up some new CR! For anyone who tapped his previous post, I'll likely assume it DOES NOT APPLY unless you confirm either here or oocly to me somewhere (since it was under different circumstances etc).

THAT BEING SAID. Lophi's an actor along the lines of Tom Holland's explosive start and is now in his Brandon Fraser in The Mummy era. He's very cheerful and friendly and kind of dumb off-screen because he keeps accidentally leaking movie spoilers. His manager keeps threatening to tape his mouth shut and he has in fact showed up to an interview with his mouth taped and let his co-star do all the talking.

He has a pet silkie chicken named Pan Cake he loves her even if she questionably loves him.

Roles/CR you're interested in:
- Childhood friends! He did in fact attend a normal school while growing up and was the chatty, energetic, overly dramatic theater kid who had way too much energy. Probably bullied for doing gymnastics as a kid.
- Friends as an adult. Probably would be a large chunk of people in the acting industry, but he is still a chatty guy doing normal things so maybe he's friends with the guy at his favorite coffee or donut shop, etc.
- Others in the Entertainment Industry. People he's acted with, or ran into at galas or idk how famous people meet but they do.
- Dance/Gym friends. He has to stay in shape for work obvs and a regular gym routine is very important. Has probably had to move/switch gyms several times.
- Nerdy friends. He's into comics primarily, like mainstream Marvel fan, but he's been checking out anime recently and needs someone to teach him The Ways.
- TBH I am also open to just random friends he's made somehow/somewhere.
- I want friend(s) who will bully and tease him thanks.
- People are also free to recognize him if they'd like, tell him to do a flip-

AU Ideas:
- Is an amnesiac who lost his memories...some time ago. Probably within the last few years? Formerly was in some public-facing job: maybe something like goth fashion model? I was originally assuming he wasn't part of a Family pre-amnesia and his former career was kind of niche but I'm open to the possibility of him being a former Siren, just not particularly famous or anything probably. no ideas as to his former nom de plume.
- Lost his memories, ended up in the hospital. Got out of the hospital, spent some time living in his old apartment, trying to pick up his old life, but couldn't deal with the expectations of the people he used to know to be a person he couldn't ever be again. Had a really bad nervous breakdown about it, ended up back in the hospital, and when he got out again kind of bailed on everything. Packed some of his stuff, left his phone, and basically disappeared as best as he could.
- definitely ghosted his former (?) friends and a definitely-ex-boyfriend.
- got recruited by Acidia and is now working as a mortician. Talk about a complete change of career. his Blessings now are completely different: I don't actually have any ideas of what he used to be able to do and thankfully neither does he.

Looking for

since leaving the boat though, a variety of things happened that characters are free to have seen on socmed/internet/in person:

AU idea(s):

- Originally called Laiste/Larry, comes from a normie lowercase-f family.
- Was a minor online celebrity in his teens for starring in/directing a viral video called Clownpanions & You, featuring his parents as emotional support clowns. Became known as "the Clownpanion kid".
- Joined Siren's Melodies ~6 weeks prior to this generation's Performances under the nom de plume Nemo.
- Is now a failing engineering undergrad that's on his way to bombing his fourth internship.
- 2 weeks prior to his arrival (~day 280), he discovered the movie Feeding Nemo, which he somehow hadn't seen before, so he panicked and changed his name to Moon because fuck sharing names with a clownfish. His name "resonates" as 月亮 (yueliang) as opposed to 月 (yue/Jinshi) or 潇月卿 (xiaoyueqing/canon Moon).
- His life is not hard. His biggest trauma is being known for something he perceives as uncool and his biggest fear is that Clownpanions will chase him to the grave if he doesn't Do Something Different, like going into STEM...

the longer version

His parents own a modest business called Clownpanions. They're rentable emotional support clowns! Want support for your exit interview? Graduation? Deathbed? Don't want to ask someone else for whatever reason? Don't worry, Clownpanions have got your back.

Due to an early pitch video called Clownpanions & You going viral 8 years ago, Clownpanions are pretty popular on U-Tube! Laiste, then 13, was credited in large bold lettering as Co-Executive Producer, Director, Screenwriter and the character "Depressed Boy", which gained him overnight attention both in and out of school for being "the Clownpanion kid". He hated this.

Soon after the Clownpanion explosion, the distinctly academically average Laiste—who insisted on going by the name "Larry"—started acing tests, particularly in STEM subjects. To everyone's surprise, he landed an academic scholarship to high school, then another one to college. His parents, while encouraging him to follow his dreams, still hoped that he'd take over the family business one day.

Despite his sudden straight-A streak, he's never really talked or acted like a STEM kid. Outside of written tests, he seems just as unassuming and unimpressive as before??

Now at age 21 he's part of?? Siren's Melodies?? having joined them a few weeks before this generation's Performances began. Around the same time, he started interning as an electrical engineer for some Broadway-equivalent that should be way out of his league. His previous internships were colossal failures and he's well on the way to bombing this one. Dude spends way too long getting distracted by ~the art side~ of things to focus properly on his boring engineering tasks, but his bosses don't seem to mind. In fact, they're happy to extend the internship for as he needs to get sufficient experience. It is an unpaid internship after all.

- collegemates/professors that see him bombing college in general because plagiarism is way harder than it was at school
- (similar age or older) people that are good at STEM that he can put on a pedestal and be weird at. this kid is such a fanboy it's awful. if you're canon familiar it probably won't be AS bad as the Moon (潇月卿) blorboing but still weird.
- people that realize how fucking terrible he is at engineering and try to suggest that he could try something more artistic like video editing or advertising maybe?? only for him to pale and go no thanks!! something something Clownpanions trauma
- Siren's: he joined up because his current internship is basically a free labor gig for people that have failed their previous internships. it requires Family membership so they can legally exploit his ass. idk where exactly he works yet but it's a-ok to assume that he didn't read the fine print when he signed up cuz he sure didn't! he doesn't realize he's being scammed yet.
