AU Backstory Planning Post

Every month, we'll have a post where new characters and old characters can plan out backstories with one another. This should hopefully get characters something to work with when coming up with their alternate universes and get some prebuilt CR for those who are looking for it! This is NOT a requirement, you could be an unattached person if you'd like! However, for those who do want it, this is the place for you!

Before you start with making an AU, I would recommend getting familiar with some of the information to get an idea of how the setting works here.

✯Established Characters

For established characters, you can use this post as well! If you have an "open to all" type of CR where you're always needing a certain type of CR, you can do that here! This includes a restaurant needing regular patrons or a teacher needing students, guinea pigs for experiments, etc. Open to All is literally Open to All, it is never closed until the OP player adds a CLOSED comment so if you're a new player, don't feel like you're overwhelming them by commenting!!

Possibilities:
- Wrio as a former client of Sparrow's (if he has tattoos)
- one night stand? fwb??

Possibly also a more complicated situation of they were casual friends/fwb but Wrio tried to big brother too hard and Sparrow immediately ghosted him (if you're up for that). Or vice versa, Wrio ghosted Sparrow for whatever reason. Basically something that just makes it kinda awkward to run into each other on the boat.

Damn good question about the tattoos, I have to think about that. I am gonna lean towards he probably has something though if for no other reason than it's an easy way for them to have met!

I'm super happy for a more complicated situation if you are game for one, too. Do you have a preference who ghosted? I don't, although I feel the situation you described with Sparrow doing the ghosting works (or some other reason, too) pretty well because Duran is really bad about following up on people that aren't his patients when they have reactions like that, especially if he's trying to watch out for them.

I'm down for Sparrow to have done the ghosting! I've always imagined him to have a checkered past of sometimes being the shitty ex(-friend, in this case), so having that CR on the ship could be interesting.

I guess the only thing that remains is to determine how long the friends/fwb thing was going on for and how recently the ghosting happened.

I assume ghosting happened lastest around 2 years ago since Duran ghosted those important to him at the time. Pretty open for how long they were friends and fwb, though :D he did have a girlfriend before breaking it off like 6 years ago, I think it was maybe like a six month stint at best before he was like ok this isn't working. I am not against him having fwb during that six months, either, I just wanted to give ya a heads up there was a crazy girlfriend in the mix if they were. And even if they were just friends, she probably was still a pain in the ass anyway if Sparrow ever had the displeasure of meeting her.

I think 6 years ago is maybe a little too long ago but ty for the head's up!

Ghosting happening around 2 years ago works for me. Long enough ago for Sparrow to feel confident he'll never see Duran again.

Duration of their friendship probably depends on how long it'd take Duran to start trying to watch out for Sparrow and for the watching out to bother Sparrow enough to decide ghosting was the way to go.

It would take him a while, especially because I feel like he'd be able to tell that it's not something Sparrow likes or wants. I feel like a year at most for the fwb. Maybe they were friends for like 3 years total? So two of them just friends, 1 fwb?

On the one hand, 3 years is a long time to know someone before ghosting them, but on the other hand, the longer they were friendly, the worse it is that Sparrow ghosted him...

UP TO YOU, MY FRIEND /o/ could be more complicated than it appears too. I am game for whatever you wanna do, huhu.

I like the idea of friends -> fwb -> ghosting, but 3 years feels a little long to me. Maybe keep that general progression, but on a slightly shorter time span, like 2 years?

Sounds good to me ! We can do shorter too if you feel more comfy with it as well.
