Every month, we'll have a post where new characters and old characters can plan out backstories with one another. This should hopefully get characters something to work with when coming up with their alternate universes and get some prebuilt CR for those who are looking for it! This is NOT a requirement, you could be an unattached person if you'd like! However, for those who do want it, this is the place for you!

He goes by the name Duran which i'm 99% decided is his last name, but I am still messing around with figuring a first for him. He doesn't let anyone other than a select few call him by his first, anyway (although if anyone wants to do CR from when he was a kid at the orphanage they would know his first name!)

He's the current stand-in Mafia leader for a prominent crime family as the seat is in reality currently vacant after his last boss's death. The heads of this Mafia family all go by the title of "Il Re," and it's a name many would know even just from rumors and hearsay because it's all a bit infamous. Anyone working in information, government, etc. would definitely know the name, but it's definitely been in documentaries, on the Internet, movies, and so on. The title prevents outsiders from easily knowing when a change of power takes place so it isn't like people will recognize him, but if anyone is into finding out the identity and/or hunting him down for whatever reason, let's plot!

I only have a few things backstory-wise for him other than that:

1. He grew up as an orphan at the Facility. So it's very possible people around his age that were there would also know him from that time (I'm putting him somewhere around 30-35, leaning towards 32ish). He graduated and then kind of disappeared without much trace. He was a very good big brother type, pretty laid back and easy to talk to.
2. Although he kinda fell off the face of the earth towards Forge as an organization after graduating and ultimately joined another, he still brings orphans to the Facility that he finds as he does break up human trafficking rings/deal with murder stuff/etc. He also donates to them very generously.
3. He does have a regular job, and it's as a licensed therapist.

Other than that, I'm still very open and looking to string things together for him. Hoping he can know quite a few people where possible since my other character barely knew and still barely knows anyone prior to getting on the boat.

Roles/CR you're interested in: gang/gafia/criminal syndicate ties, therapy patients, friends/fwb, co-workers, someone who knows how to make really good tea, gym buddies, younger characters (I mean literally anyone younger than him) that he's big brother type to/has tended to watch out for, drinking buddies, relatives, and basically open to anything else you can think of.

I'm also good with doing any rival or negative CR if anyone is up for that too.

Wants and Dreams: for therapy patients, I'm up for current, former, as well as former only because Wrio dropped them on the sidewalk outside his office for whatever reason including deciding dealing with their behavior/personality was not a thing he felt he's getting paid enough to do. This could be anything from they kept missing appointments to stalker behavior to simply being annoying and uncooperative enough that Wrio said "ok fuck it get out."

Basically, he's really good at noping out of situations and relationships once he's reached his threshold of whatever (usually patience with his patients...) and moving on with his life and some people who just won't let him forget they exist would be pretty fun while stuck on the boat.

Am also cool with any friends he may have ditched at some point in the past, although he is also a quite good friend when he decides he likes a person, so either type of friend is possible.

since probably last year he was bullied in school but also has amnesia i'm sure they like to help people get adjusted [especially kids] so we could go with something in line with that??? maybe he moved out of needing it (or more likely pretends really well he Doesn't by cheating with telepathy)

I am absolutely all for this! We can do either or for the contact part, as even if Phoenix hasn't really been going to him still now for a bit, he would still be totally okay keeping in contact with him for whatever. Like whether he just answers when he's needed or etc. and it's super sporadic text only or only when Phoenix needs ann unexpected sessions, it would all definitely work. so whichever or whatever setup you like best we'll go with.

She probably got shoved at him as a patient by her employers. They pay well. She just has to do telehealth appointments b/c she's always on the road.

Any kind of relationship you want them to have? Like it's very tender because she doesn't want to be doing the therapy or they get along pretty well or...

I can't really think of how they might have met before things. Wrio is eleven years older than Till. He ran away from home when he was 12, but I think that would have made Wrio kind of young for a therapist (and Forte would have avoided going to talk to anyone to begin with due to extreme trust issues, or would have gone silent/been difficult) As an adult he also just doesn't go to a therapist even though he'd probably benefit. Whoops oh well.

If you want some kind of connection, he doesn't know who his dad was and his mom was an abusive drug addict/alcoholic who always had *not great* people around. He has no idea where she is or if she is even alive and he also reallllly really doesn't care. She was more petty crime and drugs and a shitty mom than doing any super organized crime, but maybe she got wrapped into something or with someone that was so Wrio would have been adjacently aware or dealt with something in connection to her.

OR NOT. I'm just trying to toss out ideas.

Even if they have no past CR it will be fun to build something new for them =3


LIKEWISE... I'm not sure where Kasa and him would have met. He's always just at the shrine as the lil living god (or so his family likes to say). His family looks a lot better on paper than the branch family and they are an old family and very rich. But his grandfather has a few scary blessings and is pretty powerful/influential and people generally hop to obey him due to ~reasons~. So he would probably be familiar with the family name if nothing else.

Hmmmm!

Okay let's start with Kasa. His family sounds very much the kind of family his mafia family would keep tabs on because they are also considered old world. Any long standing rich families that have influence or any kind would be on their radar. I can talk to you more one on one about this since there's certain things I don't wanna write in an official plotting comment yet cuz they're not stuff I'm 100% decided on (and I will confuse myself and others later guaranteed if I ramble it here,) but if Kasa is with his grandfather I can def see at the very least him and Wrio meeting at least once or twice after or before a meeting with his grandfather! He would have in that case seen him as both the right hand to the previous leader as well as the leader himself, but they'd always be good to Kasa for sure.

As for Till hmmm... I could def see his mom getting mixed up in something she shouldn't. He would have been too young when Till ran away to he a therapist especially since he didn't start studying to become one right away/had an interruption somewhere. However, they could have met on the streets. I'm not sure if Till would not trust him or etc, but he could have probably helped nudge Till in the right direction to getting on his own two feet if needed or make sure he never truly starved if there were points he had to deal with that. Like very well done discreet looking out for him while giving him his full independence kinda thing. Maybe they haven't even met in a long while since then!

If Wrio was at the Facility with that age range, him and Graey woulda run into each other! Graey was a little terror brat of a kid who ended up leaving early aka running away around age 15 or 16, but he'd been there since infanthood.

Also some sort of CR with Hymn would be very funny to me but unsure what type.

Sounds great! he would have definitely always wondered how that worked out for graey... I think he might of thought of it himself a few times but was also too chickenshit to do it/leave the younger kids he was looking out for.

I am so down for something with Hymn, too. I only know that when he was little he and elegy got moved to their Aunt within Holy order because of their home situation. I'm super happy to plot with you something that works with them and bounce any ideas if you're interested. We can also keep it vague until we figure it out. Otherwise happy to make hymn a part of the new boat life somehow someway whether the two of them like it or not.

In the meantime crema can be his gym buddy friend (possibly with occasional benefit if you are down) and drinking buddy. He is probably good for helping him get info out of any rivals who may have also been clients of his.

Mercury is roughly ten years younger and arrived in the facility at age like... six so it's not IMPOSSIBLE that they briefly existed in the same place at the same time!

This definitely works! He didn't disappear immediately after graduating and kinda hung around unofficially a bit as well, so he probably disappeared completely around like 19 or so. And depending on their relationship at the time he wouldn't necessarily disappear completely from Mercury's life if Mercury cared. Like he might write sometimes or if Mercury ever writes to him he would always write back etc.

Flamingo himself keeps clean but I have been debating that maybe his family might have some mob ties?

Or if you want an ex friend/fwb, he is the type to straight up ghost at the mere whiff of the mortifying ordeal of being known. And/or if he has been told, "hey Flamingo have you ever considered therapy?" one too many times.

I mean, Duran uses that phrase often HAHAHAHA. So 100% on target possibility (sometimes with good or bad intentions, such as like wanting someone to get away from him for some reason.) so I am super happy to do either or both of these things with Flamingo including the therapy comment having been good or bad intent as you prefer :D

Not even gonna lie from what I've seen of Rose, he would have absolutely adored her. Like probably one of the few that he never ever got annoyed with no matter what she did or how annoyed he'd get if anyone else did the same thing.

I'm not sure where/if Duran and Magpie would've crossed paths. Wrio's over twice his age so there's not a ton of social overlap. His mom is also in the crime business (white collar financial stuff), but Magpie's not old enough to be really involved. He's vaguely aware she has some shady business dealings, but not much more than that. May have been brought to "business" trips, especially in the last year or two, but he'd have been there just to see sights and have fun.

Maybe he could be a therapy patient? He has some attachment/abandonment issues since his mom's a workaholic and his AU dad has never been around, but I don't know if that's the kind of thing in Wrio's wheelhouse.

Yes, actually Wrio can definitely work with him as a therapy patient! he does specialize in treating younger patients (particularly under 14/15 but especially the age ranges of 8/9 to 13/14. ) because he ended up feeling a lot of the kids in that range need more specialized and focused support than is readily available. They're not high schoolers or young adults facing those common world pressures necessarily just yet (and even if they are, you can't just group them in with their older counterparts) but they can't be treated like very young children, either because they might feel as if they are not being taken seriously if overly coddled.

He's of the firm belief the younger they are exposed to good therapy the less likely they are to hide their problems when then shouldn't and have better coping skills on as they go through their teens. Wrio's goal with his younger patients would be to get them to a point where they might feel like they don't need therapy anymore (or maybe they start to feel it's a stigma so they don't want to be doing it anymore because they think their doing well enough they can be in their own) while being able to recognize when they should come back and not feel afraid to do so if it turns out they still aren't ready to be on their own. I feel like he obvious usually sees older patients most of them time but is extremely dedicated to his younger ones and helping make them not feel trapped even if they are still very young. So I imagine it's not always typical therapy, alright we can hash out specifics for what kind of sessions would be best for him!

Magpie is a talented artist, right? ( I know he likes to skateboard too and is a big fan of his adoptive brother c: )

- Wrio as a former client of Sparrow's (if he has tattoos)
- one night stand? fwb??

Possibly also a more complicated situation of they were casual friends/fwb but Wrio tried to big brother too hard and Sparrow immediately ghosted him (if you're up for that). Or vice versa, Wrio ghosted Sparrow for whatever reason. Basically something that just makes it kinda awkward to run into each other on the boat.

Damn good question about the tattoos, I have to think about that. I am gonna lean towards he probably has something though if for no other reason than it's an easy way for them to have met!

I'm super happy for a more complicated situation if you are game for one, too. Do you have a preference who ghosted? I don't, although I feel the situation you described with Sparrow doing the ghosting works (or some other reason, too) pretty well because Duran is really bad about following up on people that aren't his patients when they have reactions like that, especially if he's trying to watch out for them.
