AU Backstory Planning Post

Every month, we'll have a post where new characters and old characters can plan out backstories with one another. This should hopefully get characters something to work with when coming up with their alternate universes and get some prebuilt CR for those who are looking for it! This is NOT a requirement, you could be an unattached person if you'd like! However, for those who do want it, this is the place for you!

Before you start with making an AU, I would recommend getting familiar with some of the information to get an idea of how the setting works here.

✯Established Characters

For established characters, you can use this post as well! If you have an "open to all" type of CR where you're always needing a certain type of CR, you can do that here! This includes a restaurant needing regular patrons or a teacher needing students, guinea pigs for experiments, etc. Open to All is literally Open to All, it is never closed until the OP player adds a CLOSED comment so if you're a new player, don't feel like you're overwhelming them by commenting!!

AU idea(s):
No one quite knows where Charvet de Clare came from. There have probably been whispers about the de Clare family around Estoria for years, with them being rich and, well, somewhat out of reach. They were traditionally a Holy Order family, and some in the Holy Order may recall the most recent generation having a daughter by the name of Sariel ("Sari") de Clare, though she was never seen in public.

This is all to say that about five years ago, Charvet swept onto the scene, accepted by the Sun Sign family, and opened up a courier service. To many, she appears to be a polite, upstanding member of society, managing her fleet of delivery people to serve all the families of Estoria. However, her business does also dabble in shady stuff, and she's been known to smuggle things and generally make certain deliveries with the utmost discretion. That said, she limits this activity to only certain couriers she knows she can trust. There are whispers about Estoria regarding her activities, but that's all they are — whispers.

BASICALLY, she comes from an old Holy Order family, but she's Sun Sign. She runs Estorian F*dex only less shitty and manages a bunch of couriers. Sometimes they transport shit under the radar and she tweaks the manifests so it looks totally legit. If you're into shady business, she may have coordinated deliveries for you, no questions asked.

Roles/CR you're interested in:
- Clients! People shipping normal shit, people shipping shady shit, it doesn't matter. She's the polite, refined lady that helps with the paperwork and makes sure things get to where it needs to go. If you're shipping something under the radar, she absolutely modified the manifest for only a nominal fee, super reasonable.
- Workers! She wouldn't have minors do the shady shipments ftr, but she's been known to hire part-time workers as well as give people temp jobs to pad their income in between work. Really all she cares about is if you can deliver the package on time and not throw it over a fence. If someone wants to be a worker she fired for that, that's fine too ig.
- Fellow underworld types, maybe? She'd gladly cut them a discount in return for referrals.
- Drinking buddies! She's been known to go to the nearest bar after work to unwind.
- Holy Orders who maybe knew her family are welcome too, ofc. She would be very evasive about any questions about the de Clares. dwbi.
- anything else, I am completely open with her!

Wants and Dreams:
idk, I'm super flexible when it comes to her, I just want her to be that respectable but kind of shady lady who gets your shit where it needs to go safely but maybe don't ask questions about how it got there.

SHIPPING NORMAL SHIT. Honestly, he's probably also run into her in Family activities, but also possible drinking buddies!

I offer one unhinged drinking buddy who also uses her services for normal shipping reasons. Some may be questionable in shape, but don't worry, they're just iguana terrarium accessories.

She has absolutely gone through the package questionnaire with him before shipping that stuff and slowly raised her eyebrow more and more.

His iguana has special tastes. He's bougie. Crema needs to make sure he gets the best plants and rocks for him or they go back to the am*zon warehouse.

Barachiel would probably know her family just because he's a Holy Order nerd who has done a lot of studying on the Family's lore and all that. So idk, if there's anything ~deep~ (but fairly public knowledge) about the de Clares you want him to know, he's your guy.

Otherwise he will just be cordial and normal (as normal as he gets to be about Sun Sign anyway).

I will have to PONDER de Clare stuff and pass it over to you when I come up with things! But I think that could be fun.

Graduate student on the edge of poverty who would absolutely pick up temp work if the opportunity presents itself. Incredibly discreet, knows his way around the city, and also very happy to talk logistics and transportation efficiencies (he's in civil engineering, specializing in transportation engineering). Prefers jobs to be strictly casual and off the books, and happy to have a mutually blind eye to their respective reasons for that being a good thing.

She would have gladly paid him under the table for some of the shadier deliveries! It's fine. This is fine. They aren't shipping dry ice so it's okay.

that said moretta IS involved in shady shit so rather than shipping out she's likely done pickups shipped TO her (blood) family. outside of actively doing her job moretta acts extremely. mostly normal. unfortunately prone to flirting though sorry in advance

Duran would love to have underworld drinking buddy tbh and the mafia family he leads is an old world holy order tied Family so I would be totally down if they have business dealing quite often, too.

Sammy is probably too young but he was also holy order old world family too so she might have known his dad or even his older sisters.

I'm down for that with Duran! Underworld cr yessss. They could have business arrangements of some kind. doin' discreet deliveries for him.
