Every month, we'll have a post where new characters and old characters can plan out backstories with one another. This should hopefully get characters something to work with when coming up with their alternate universes and get some prebuilt CR for those who are looking for it! This is NOT a requirement, you could be an unattached person if you'd like! However, for those who do want it, this is the place for you!

Before you start with making an AU, I would recommend getting familiar with some of the information to get an idea of how the setting works here.

✯Established Characters

For established characters, you can use this post as well! If you have an "open to all" type of CR where you're always needing a certain type of CR, you can do that here! This includes a restaurant needing regular patrons or a teacher needing students, guinea pigs for experiments, etc. Open to All is literally Open to All, it is never closed until the OP player adds a CLOSED comment so if you're a new player, don't feel like you're overwhelming them by commenting!!

AU idea(s): popped up with amnesia a year or two ago and got nabbed by a criminal org that recruits amnesiacs bc easy targets and sometimes you just can't id them, which is v useful for #crime. he's eventually arrested for something serious (logistics pending) and gets a light to nonexistent sentence, whether bc there's a lack of evidence, self-defense, and/or someone legally (or not so legally) interfered. pppossibly has a blessing that makes it easier to get away with it, like shapeshifting, which also opens up avenues for identity theft (yay). he does feel strongly about doing the Right thing... but his interpretation of what that means might be a little generous.

gets taken in by sun sign partly bc blessed, partly bc it's a good look / someone pulled some strings, and partly bc it's a condition of his release, like please get this kid some adult supervision, what no, haha, of course he didn't do it, he would never—

currently does a bunch of courier-related odd jobs; he can be your angle or yuor bike-riding gig economy devil delivery guy of dubious legality. perhaps some of his gigs are sus (do not ask how he juggles this with school).

went by akira "lux" in his pre-family nasty crimeboy era, but also may have shamelessly lied and told the cops his name was a cat pun.

Roles/CR you're interested in: he obv has a narrow window for pregame cr, but it's pretty easy to leave an impression if your character met him when he didn't have anyone... he also would have been fending for himself pre-family, so maybe he pickpocketed your guy.

more specific options: shady cr, pls rope him into dodgy shit of various extremes. anyone involved in his case, or adults in general who got stuck checking on him / bailing him out / are varying degrees of good/bad influences lol. peers bc he trusts teens more easily than adults, with bonus points for encouraging his reckless streak and/or typical teen behavior. ppl he's gotten on the wrong side of (THE LAW). manipulative cr or people who've played him, even if they genuinely mean well.

if your character runs a business, there is a nonzero chance he's handled their deliveries / otherwise worked for/helped them out or just dropped off their lunch order. it would be hilarious to me personally if someone in the medical field used him as a guinea pig.

his arrest isn't public record, but i'm cool with it being an open secret in some circles or cr finding out about it one way or another. teachers/faculty probably know, though it makes for better contrast with canon if classmates have no clue 🤫

in general, if you wanna slot your character into his brief backstory, hmu because i will make this work.

Wants and Dreams: ren has provided moral support for multiple canonmates in their amnesia adventures, so now it's his turn 🥳 also please help me in my quest to make him wear glasses he does not need; it's going to happen no matter what bc i said so, but why not make it a group effort. also also, would someone like to be acquainted with him entirely bc they made his unwilling ass fill out a police report when a car clipped him on his bike... or perhaps they're the one who hit him lol.

So Brocade is a Guardian for Sun Sign, so may have run into him when he was first getting resettled in/amnesiac. Up to you if he knows about CRIME BOY, I can go either way. I'm absolutely down for the NO FILL OUT THE DAMN PAPER

what about smth like this.

- they interact (or don't interact) in the cell
- she gives her name as Rem, talks like a normal pleb
- whenever they're finished, a huge threatening guard approaches, and unlocks the door, says they're free to go
- she pats the guard on the arm and walks out
- the guard refuses to admit verbatim to being bribed but he's obviously been bribed. he'll let Calico out whenever
- the next time they meet is on the boat where she goes by Felt and talks like a rich girl

HELLO

I am a simple person and I think it's cute for amnesiacs to help each other out which by that I mean!! Phoenix and he are roughly the same time length (phoenix is a nebulous 1 1/2 to 2 years) and they're close in age.

Adults like to pin together kids in similar situations and they might have both chuffed at that a bit but ??? Depending on where you want CR/how things to go! Phoenix is ultimately Good kid but can be reckless/too trusting.

My brain feels smooth but I do think there's things to work with!

no this is cute, i'm like 90% canonblind but look... they're both vigilantes in their respective canons. we can cook.

phoenix also would get to be ren's senpai bc he's been on the grid from the start, even if they've functionally been amnesiac for the same length of time LOL. maybe they stick the two of them together bc of the similarities and also being like, well, you're temporarily assigned his tour guide now?

it's okay so am i :') mcu wise he's not a vigilante YET but really... it's only a matter of time. as his parents say he was born for it

in estoria i bullied him by making sure he still has telepathy, so he had a longer adjustment period than some people did in certain ways but!! he tries really hard to seem normal and makes good grades :') so they'd probably definitely have looked at him and were like yeah you two are in a similar boat help him

just sigh!!! and be like in private i'll help if needed but also please feel free to escape. maybe it was just a chill vibe.

Snowdrop (or Snow as most know him by) is about 16 and yet already works fulltime making medicines, so Ren could have definitely delivered supplies to the labs and been greeted by a kid |Da Despite the giant nerd job, he's a friendly and talkative guy, so Ren's welcome to have hung out if he was done with his shift - in areas where sensitive information was not readily available, naturally.

I can also offer Snow as a reason Ren may have tested medicines but 1. it'd have to be voluntary and 2. the medicines aren't anything too crazy, mostly healing salves and the like. But he'd pay for the help, too! Snow is a legit good boy, so all research and experimental medicines would be tested on the up and up with a control and treatment group, etc.

bro, your clearance levels??? he definitely would have been surprised to find a kid officially working there and probably hung out every once in a while between deliveries bc he'd be curious!!! but he also definitely would not understand what snow was talking about if he started nerding out lmao.

ALSO he would 100% voluntarily sign up for shadier medical trials, so there may or may not have been a moment where ren agreed to smth and snow was like "but i didn't even tell you what it does, its side effects, or how much you'd be payed yet???"

100% has hired him out for odd jobs of moving stuff around for him (to make sure this rando kid's doing okay or something). he probably claims it's his motorcycle injury acting up just for old man points (he's 29...)

probably also that chill older bro type who won't tattle if he does a minor infraction or something (he totally used to be that kid smoking behind the bleachers in high school, so i mean. he's chill).

life coach/physical trainer so he probably also pesters kid about his health.

may only have a gym membership to get this guy off his back (HE IS ALREADY RIDING A BIKE EVERYWHERE IS THAT NOT ENOUGH) and bc it's discounted for minors. would also absolutely roast cash if he still smokes for being one of "those" healthy minded types.
