AU Backstory Planning Post

Every month, we'll have a post where new characters and old characters can plan out backstories with one another. This should hopefully get characters something to work with when coming up with their alternate universes and get some prebuilt CR for those who are looking for it! This is NOT a requirement, you could be an unattached person if you'd like! However, for those who do want it, this is the place for you!

Before you start with making an AU, I would recommend getting familiar with some of the information to get an idea of how the setting works here.

For established characters, you can use this post as well! If you have an "open to all" type of CR where you're always needing a certain type of CR, you can do that here! This includes a restaurant needing regular patrons or a teacher needing students, guinea pigs for experiments, etc. Open to All is literally Open to All, it is never closed until the OP player adds a CLOSED comment so if you're a new player, don't feel like you're overwhelming them by commenting!!

AU idea(s): What I have so far is that he's from a family full of academic achievers (most have PHDs in their field, all work either at university or in a respected field) but he himself struggled with school and feels like the odd-man-out. His family loves him but he just feels Different. He's good at technical drawings (architecture, stained glass, blueprints, etc.) but he's hesitant to pursue further education.

I also don't have a Nom de Plume for Lalli yet, he's got one that his family and friends use but he's not the type to just tell people that kind of thing. So he'll just go by what others call him, he's not particularly attached to any Nom de Plume he's had before.

Roles/CR you're interested in: Lalli's family is pretty big, with plenty of aunts and uncles and second cousins and so forth. Distant or not-so-distant relatives are welcome. Also people who knew him in high school, or who knows of his family (since his family is relatively well-known in academia, especially his grandma, and he looks almost like a carbon-copy of his grandma), or anyone who could have seen Lalli drawing buildings and parks in his spare time.
Wants and Dreams: My greatest dream is for him to start with a lot of distance between himself and others, but to have that distance shrink over time. Lalli is like a cat: kind of prickly and not very friendly at first, but very loyal and caring to those he grows close to.

Hmm he's about the same age as Sam. Sam has amnesia now but they could have gone to the same high school (he was holy order when younger). Sam these days is always on the lookout for artists/artisans that are not well known and if he notices their stuff and likes them would definitely try to commission him for some blueprints or stained glass pieces if this interests you. So they could have remeeting after Sam disappears. He is actually very good with prickly types too even though he's very scared of making friends, so they might have an interesting dynamic to play it since he will easily initiate the interactions Lalli needs and then maybe they can both eventually help each other get over their distance issues.

I'm going to go with Lalli's parents and grandma having been from Acidia I think, and that Lalli recently got taken in by the holy order. But if schools aren't family-exclusive they could have been classmates! Friendly faces are always good. (His nom de plume back then would have been Sunny too, for reference.) Regardless, commissions for blueprints and stained glass sound good. Lalli doesn't really sell much yet, so Sam could have been one of his first customers.

Having them meet up after Sam disappears would be nice and bittersweet too, I like it.

Although I don't know for sure, I assume they are not family-exclusive— or if there are there are plenty more that aren't such because there's way more people who aren't part of the Families in Estoria. Sam's dad was Holy Order, but his mom was Cirrus so I'm at least she on my end that his parents would go out of their way to send him to a non-exclusive school. :D

Hymn's aunts are Holy Order, so we could have them be relatives of some sort! Cousins of some degree, who show up to family dinners being perfect little holy order members but A Little Different since Elegy works as a content creator and Hymn assists her. There's probably also family rumors about them since they used to be Unholy and clearly that's why they're this way, etc etc.

(I also talked with Elegy's player about this and she is also cool with it in case you were worried!)

I'm sorry I forgot to specify above, but I'm going to have Lalli's close family be from Acidia. They could still be distant relatives though! Like his grandma's sister went into Holy Order (or vice-versa, Lalli's grandmother went into Acidia) and the family line went down from there.

That would be nice though, for him to have cousins (second cousins?) in this new family he's ended up in.
