Every month, we'll have a post where new characters and old characters can plan out backstories with one another. This should hopefully get characters something to work with when coming up with their alternate universes and get some prebuilt CR for those who are looking for it! This is NOT a requirement, you could be an unattached person if you'd like! However, for those who do want it, this is the place for you!

Before you start with making an AU, I would recommend getting familiar with some of the information to get an idea of how the setting works here.

For established characters, you can use this post as well! If you have an "open to all" type of CR where you're always needing a certain type of CR, you can do that here! This includes a restaurant needing regular patrons or a teacher needing students, guinea pigs for experiments, etc. Open to All is literally Open to All, it is never closed until the OP player adds a CLOSED comment so if you're a new player, don't feel like you're overwhelming them by commenting!!

Tentative!1 Very tentative. But the "I'm not apping a second" to "I thought about a possible second too hard and now I want to play them" pipeline is both real and dangerous.

Player Name: Cheshire
Character: The Crow that Heralds the Red Rain (aka Crow, Red Crow, or Valor)
Canon: OC (Exalted) + Imeeji PGAU
Potential Family Option:
- Unholy Disorder (feels like an obvious fit for him)
- Sun Sign (mostly because sun imagery is hilarious for canon reasons)
- idk I usually just throw myself at the mercy of the mods
AU idea(s): Overall, I'm aiming for an AU where he still has his current personality BUT has managed to find a place for himself within a community. A place that doesn't involve murder even a little. Here are some details:

- Laidback, mercurial, nihilistic, and has a morbid sense of humor. Foul-mouthed, but not in an angry way, though he can come across as abrasive and sometimes decides to push buttons for kicks. Despite this, he is a pretty relaxed individual and loyal to his friends.
- The black sheep and disappointment of his family, from whom he is estranged.
- Dropped out of college, drifted for a few years, and eventually embarked on a career as a tattoo artist. He completed his apprenticeship a couple years ago and has been busy establishing himself since then.
- During his apprenticeship, he worked a bunch of jobs to keep himself afloat.
- In his downtime, he likes to do parkour and ~~break into~~ explore abandoned places. Posts about his adventures online sometimes.
- Has spent the past five years trying unsuccessfully to quit smoking. He's at least managed to cut back significantly.
- Despite being 28 years old with a reasonably successful artistic career, he remains a hot mess. He's trying to fix that. Sort of.
- Regardless of what Family he ends up in, probably goes by the nom de plume of Sparrow.

Roles/CR you're interested in:
- Friends. Exploring places friends, art friends, whatever. He has a soft spot for nerds. While the way he presents himself can come across as abrasive, past that exterior, he's a pretty chill person and a supportive friend. Always ready to lend a hand moving bodies or be a shoulder to cry on. But he tends to keep his problems to himself.

- Friends with benefits/flings/fuckbuddies/etc. He's not looking for a relationship (and I'm not interested in RPing a relationship with this character, though I remain open to possibilities), but he does enjoy sex. Crow/Sparrow is bisexual and tends to be attracted to people who seem like they would fuck him up. I don't know how else to describe his taste. (This option only open to characters like 22+?? Whatever his vibes, age difference is a consideration, thank u for understanding.)

- Exes??? Despite what I just said, it's entirely possible that he might have made some ill-advised attempts at relationships in the past, or there might have been miscommunication about expectations, or something of that nature. Things may have ended amicably or not; I'm down for Crow/Sparrow to be the shitty ex-slash-bad decision if that's how things work out.

- Enemies. He can be kind of abrasive and isn't always interested in playing nice if he doesn't feel like it. Negative CR is possible and welcome, but I'd like to talk about it first. (Note that being enemies isn't mutually exclusive with them banging.)

- Teachers/mentors/etc. Older figures in his life encouraging him in his efforts to be less of a hot mess. Bad influences encouraging him to be more of a hot mess. Both are welcome.

- Clients. Maybe he did your character's tattoo! We can discuss exactly what design and what happened as a result.

- Family. For now, I'm rolling with him being estranged from his wealthy family and being low/no contact with them. BUT I'm open to changing this if you have an idea for a familial connection, either positive or negative.

- Former or current coworkers, neighbors, roommates, whatever.

Wants and Dreams: Crow is a character who's highly resistant to change in himself for various reasons. Imeeji forced him down the beginning of the path of dealing with his problems, and I mostly just want to continue that arc and see where it goes. An AU seems like an interesting way to force him to explore new possibilities about what his life could be like.

Also, he didn't have his cool fun powers and such from being an Abyssal Exalt in Imeeji, so it would be fun to play with his canon powers once he starts getting those memories and skills back.

Oh man... okay. So I could see Till and him either butting heads or getting along, depending on how much he would try and push Till's buttons. Maybe he did one of Till's tattoos though, that could totally work. Or some of his piercings, if he does those too?

I'm open to whatever for Till.

I look forward to him being in game though, especially since Tsukasa is Imeeji PGAU! His game background may change a bit depending on where he is placed, so I don't have anything super concrete for him yet. But I'm amused that these two of all people are the ones from Imeeji here together.

I think he'd focus on tattoos (the shop where he works probably has specialists for piercings). So yeah, doing one of Till's tattoos would totally work!

I could see him and Till butting heads, but frankly he probably has more interesting people to bother than a 21-year-old angy kitten. :P Maybe if they ever met outside of a professional setting.

Also, I didn't realize you were also doing Imeeji PGAU with Tsukasa! God it's funny that they'd be the only two from Imeeji here.

We'll figure out something fun! Though I already have one of your muses attention haha.

BUT YEAH. I wanted to bring Kasa from Imeeji for his cute corruptions because I'm shameless like that. And because he was in a pretty good spot toward the end of things. It's just so funny that it's Kasa and Crow of all people. The one person he had such negative CR with. Though they were kinda doing better toward the end???

YEAH he would call bullshit for sure. as someone who used to be an unhappy teen breaking into abandoned buildings, he is aware that happy well-adjusted teens do not do that thing.

I'm also down with like weird friends but not friends but kinda having each other's back yeah they're friends but everyone else like uhm are you guys okay??? For example I like the idea of them being able to be mean bitches to each other one min and then like "ok so anyway let's go get milkshakes" the next. Sam is really nice and doesn't show his mean streak like at all like Childe yet but he does have one so (and it'll show up more eventually wohoo.)

I'm kinda open to anything really! Any thoughts yourself? Because Sam had amnesia at 16, there's about 2 years that they could have met (the other years I haven't hashed out enough to know wth he was doing then)

Alternatively if you want them to have known each other prior to Sam's amnesia I'm down with that. I haven't thought much about his preamnesia backstory much though. The only thing I can think that would help with is if we needed a good reason for them to interact on the boat, but if it somehow gives you any ideas by all means.

gently waves a scrungly feral teen vigilante at Sparrow - the funny thing is that he goes by Crow when he's doing his extra shady info-brokery things but yeah maybe Sparrow has run into him when he's been doing night-time parkour? in or out of his Crow disguise depending on if you want him to be able to recognise him as Heron, he tries to keep things separate but doesn't always do the full disguise when he's just doing recon or keeping his rooftop running skills in shape.

he is ALSO a nerd, and able to act unruffled/give sass back when dealing with abrasive types, so they would probably potentially get along even if it's maybe under some layers of apparent bickering?

Running into Heron while doing night-time parkour works for me! In disguise or out of disguise works for me (or maybe in disguise during the first couple encounters and then out of disguise later). Why Sparrow keeps running into teenagers in places where teenagers should not be at night is a mystery to him...

Getting along despite apparent bickering also works for me!

P.S. I have a TDM top-level here o7

- The background I outlined above still holds, but while he is estranged from his immediate lower-case f family (barring anyone who wants to have complicated family CR), he still maintains positive ties to others in the Family so he hasn't left the Atmosphere even if he has chosen not to work in the Cirrus Network

- Probably did some kinda shady under the table work for the information retrieval side of the Cirrus Network to keep himself afloat during his apprenticeship. Late night/early morning couriering, surveillance, picking up dead drops, etc. Whatever he could fit around his actual work schedule.

- Currently no longer does the above, but he passes along interesting tips if he hears something while out and about among the non-Atmospheres. When he feels like it.

- You will catch him in business casual over his cold dead body.

Offering:

❖ Former client where Crow gave him a baller TBD tattoo. That's how they met maybe. He came with very good reviews.

Crow is not himself a nerd, he just likes hanging out with them. Tell him about law minutiae while he half-listens and works on sketches for clients, Zhongli.

He does know a suspicious amount about various abandoned buildings around Port Manteau and could probably talk about that if Zhongli would like to hear about that. Totally not because he broke into them to explore, that would be trespassing. >_>

I like the idea of them meeting when Crow gave Zhongli a tattoo, too!

she does mostly work in getting people out of unsafe homes and helping relocate them so something something something???

Sure! Crow isn't particularly tech savvy (beyond, you know, what's normal for living in Estoria in these modern times) but maybe they just ran into each other in a dark and isolated place that they definitely should not have been in and just...mutually agreed to pretend not to have seen each other. And to maybe go out for a drink later.

Works for me! Even though he's kind of an outsider by choice, people from the Cirrus Network are free to track Sparrow down to poke him for whatever reason. Bringing free baked goods helps. He has whatever the opposite of a sweet tooth is, so Lou can test out savory recipes on him!
