HELLO, MANY AN ANNOUNCEMENT IS HAPPENING SO PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ EVERYTHING, THANK YOU.
♢ As per previous announcements, the ship will be temporarily landing at Port Manteau! This will last for a while so people can take a relaxing breather back home
and wish to never return to the boat and get business done until they go back. For some reason. (Why would they go back? Stay tuned for that.)
There will be a thing on the weekend of the 14TH-16TH, exact times are unknown, but it should lead into MORE THINGS.
The actual boat landing will be the weekend of March 22nd. Might push it to the following week, but we'll see. I go with the vibes of what feels too busy or not.
♢ I know I said differently before, but I've decided
applications will officially close Sunday March 09th or once I hit a couple more apps and will reopen...eventually. Probably not until people get back on the boat and that there's reasonable space. Please see the following point to know what that means!
♢ I asked a poll in regards to extra placements beyond the current limit, and it was pretty evenly split. The information was very helpful in making my decision so I appreciate it! I've decided for now,
any extra placements are on a case-by-case basis. It will not be a permanent feature, but I'll allow it sometimes if I feel like I need it for whatever reason. Such as!
If I find there's only limited places I can place someone and a person has been waiting for months, that's where I'll consider it as a viable option.
This will not apply if you decide to be one-team or bust in your application. For example, if you say you only accept Siren's Melodies and nothing else, I won't place you until there's a regular spot open. If you decide to suddenly add 20 anti-requests that knocks you down to one available team only, I'm probably not going to put you into an extra placement spot.
The reason I am going to allow it is because I have not planned for this game to have a 5 year lifespan. I'm not ever going to be adding a current ninth family, just lore wise it doesn't make sense. I'd like people not to be sitting for 4-5 months if I can help it. If you choose one team or bust and are aware of that then you should be somewhat aware of what that entails. However if it's like maybe just unmoving teams + anti-requests + specific team requests, etc. I'll consider it then.
The other option is if
There is a Circumstance where apps will be closed for a long time and placements will be held due to events. Like the one coming up! I'll do pre-placements just because I feel like it'd be harder to do placements and apps while the event is happening (it doesn't make IC sense) and I don't like people sitting in the queue just because of an event that's over a month long. It feels stinky! Now this doesn't mean we're gonna go up to like...15 people per family. But we'd rather place them now, get the queue empty, and close apps until the numbers are normal.
So anyone who is in my queue right now will be placed whenever I do placements and there will be no more placements until at the earliest the beginning of May. Applications will be closed until I feel like the number of people in game is back to normal (where teams are starting to get back down to 8-9 people and then re-open then). No exceptions!
♢ I am currently working an entire document of what Port Manteau contains, locations, important figures, etc. This should increase some of the flavor and fun of the city! Give me a week for this!
♢ When you get off the boat, there will be a temporary option for drops! Your character can simply stay behind instead of getting back on the boat, they will be relieved of their performer duties. I'll include the details of this on the drop page.
If your character had fallen asleep, you can wake up and stay behind in Port Manteau. You can still re-app, too, but this is an option you can swap into if you'd like.
♢ I will likely postpone any deep plot stuff at this time, I'll politely request you do it after the upcoming event. I need to finish all the stuff I have still hanging!! And then prep for the future, please understand.
♢ A reminder with activity! The base is 50 comments a month, but if you start going 50 comments a month per month with not a lot of substance, that's not good! You have to do a little more than that, okay, okay.
♢ SWAPPING. Lets talk about swapping since I had a few people ask how this would work. Say your character doesn't vibe well with the current family or ICly, they find they're interested in another family. So ICly, you do have to kind of come up with a reason as to why you go from one family to another. Marriage is fine! Finding out you really like the core belief of another family is fine!
But it cannot be forced upon anybody, and Showmaster can't make you swap onto a different family. Your character has to icly decide they want to change families, and Nana will let you leave the boat for a few IC days to do BUREAUCRACY PAPERWORK. You'll disappear from the ship during those days and then when you come back, you'll be part of the new family usually when I do placements! You don't need to icly play any of this, this is just what will ICly happen.
Per the family page: Now, this isn't like a criminal organization where if you betray the family, someone will come over and kill you. Yes, there will be frowns if you choose to leave and you might shunned by certain folk for it, but normally, your old family will ultimately accept it without a huge fuss. For the most part, families don't like taking members from another family simply because they know it takes a lot for people to change their core beliefs. It's hard work.
So you shouldn't have to play any awkward ic "omg your character left me :///" drama UNLESS YOU CHOOSE TO CUZ THAT KIND OF STUFF IS SOMETHING YOU FIND FUN TO PLAY WITH! I've seen other people in games do this to people who swapped, and I know some people felt very oocly awkward about it. This is not an abnormal thing icly so you shouldn't have to worry about it, and if people give you a difficult time or make you feel guilty, let them know to loosen up and stop being weird or you can tap me and I can help you with it.
If you are having an OOC problem because some members of the team is not around very much or you feel like you're butting heads and that's why you want to swap,
that is not means for a swap first and foremost, that is a Tell Celi The Problem so she can look into it.. I'm going to be real, swapping needs to be an exception case, it is not meant to be a regular occurrence. I'm not going to email every person on a team and see if they're okay with a swap because tbqh, it takes a very long time and I do not have a lot of time, if it's just an IC thing, yeah it should be okay cuz it's in character! If it's because there are ooc problems a-foot, I don't want to shift the problem without at least seeing what the issue is and how to fix it. Anti-requests still apply to swaps too so if you just somehow can't be placed, I'll tell you flat out.
BUT IF ITS JUST SWAPPING FOR IC REASONS, you just need to send us an email about it and specify certain teams you might be interested in, but just be aware it's better to have multiple options than being solidly fixed on one.
♢ Thank you again for the game speed poll also! Games should be once every two weeks, and that will remain as the standard! The exceptions will be allowing solo-weekday games to happen whenever someone can run one because simply put, some people ONLY have weekdays or non standard US hours, and I want them to have a chance to play games too. If it's a game that stretches 4 days and includes weekdays, I won't really consider that as the same thing and will still prefer to wait two weekends after that game is done. I don't really want it to go much more slower since I've seen some concerns about memory pacing already being on the slower end, but I do think to fit any player plots or games, we need that break in between.
I do understand the frustration of player-run events and not knowing when would be a good time to run things so if you feel like you really want to run a specific game-wide party post or maybe a "lets gather plot" post or an anonymous post, LET ME KNOW, I'll see if I can put it on the calendar. While gamerunners can still run games during these, they're usually pretty good at adjusting to the game vibes so this should at least help mitigate the "oh no when can I run this post aaaaaa".

HERE IS A DOC FOR THE FAMILY GHOSTS, it's a WIP. I'm also working one for just a general timeline of events that have happened. This is to a) help facilitate new people because a lot of the current navigation information we have does not include a lot of the info that exists in game and b) to just make it easier to find just quick information on what you need.

I know I can't ever run a perfect game, and there aren't perfect solutions, sometimes I am slow to respond, and I know sometimes my brain is a hot mess in how it divvies up information, but I feel like there's been so many cool and exciting happenings, I think the characters are wonderful, I love the way everyone interacts with the npcs and stories so far and the way they form their own feelings on things.
IT'S VERY EXCITING FOR US ;;;;;_;;;;;; We hope the upcoming event is fun too. Please bear with us as we continue to work hard for you guys!!!
